My Placement Highlights Four Months In…

By Emma Hart on Fri 07 December 2012 in Placement Blog

It’s coming up to our first quarter of working life at Prospectsoft, and I can safely say I have loved every minute of it.

The opportunities I have been given are things I thought I would have never been doing before starting a placement year (especially so early on). When I envisioned life as a placement student, I was apprehensive it would be sitting behind a screen doing admin jobs and making lots and lots of tea. To be fair that’s half true because I’m in an office full of tea and coffee enthusiasts, but my duties are far from monotonous and each day is completely different.

One of the highlights of my role at Prospectsoft is the opportunity to get out of the office and get the chance to meet with customers, partners and associates. It’s always nice to get the chance to put a face to a name, and get to know the correspondents I speak with every day on a personal level.

About a month ago, we had our quarterly event at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham. Sophie and I were up at the crack of dawn and had a mini road trip to Birmingham, excited and ready to see what the day would hold. Despite getting a little lost on the way, we made it to the venue and got the chance to meet and greet our customers and prospects. It was such a great way of networking, and everyone seemed really excited about our products! We came away from the day with an even better insight to our products, an amazing networking opportunity and a belly full of delicious finger buffet food.

Another highlight four months in would have to be the Rate My Placement Sponsors meal that Alice and I attended. As we sponsor the Best SME Placement Provider category in the RMP awards, we were treated to a day out in London where we did a treasure hunt in the Museum of London with the RMP team and the remaining sponsoring companies. We were fed (non-stop) amazing canapés and champagne and gained a better insight into the placement and graduate market. Again, it was another great opportunity to meet all of the RMP team after working so closely with them on advertising our scheme. It was also a chance to share some of our experiences with the current RMP placements, and exchange tips, advice and stories.

I can’t believe some of the opportunities I have been given, especially only four months in! The support and encouragement that my Managers and Supervisors give me is second to none, and I really feel part of the Prospectsoft team already.
