From Sheffield to Stokenchurch...

By Jack Levi on Thu 23 November 2017 in Placement Blog

My first couple of months at ProspectSoft has completely opened my eyes to the world of business, and has already proven to be an invaluable experience...

Let’s face it – starting a placement is nerve-racking prospect. You have to remember so many different names, so much information about the company and what it does, and so much information about your role. But a placement at ProspectSoft is different. It really is like a family and everyone helps you through every step of the way, calming any nerves you first experienced

Whilst at ProspectSoft, I’ve been able to see all areas of the business and the processes behind each department. Each aspect impacts on another, and it’s been fascinating to see how everything works together to achieve a common end goal. Plus, I’ve been much more hands on than I thought I would have been, which has meant I’ve had such an enjoyable, rewarding experience despite being just 4 months into my year

I’m a much more valued team member here as a placement than I’ve ever been in previous part time work or when I’ve been a member of a group project at UniversityOn placement, I’ve been able to try my hand at so many more things than I thought I’d be able to – whether it be researching new routes to market, developing more in-depth ways of interacting with prospects, or playing a key role in exhibiting at The Business Show with the company – I’ve had an opportunity to do it! What’s great is that I know I’ll get many more opportunities to experience new things throughout the year, meaning I’m able to really tailor my placement year to what I want to get out of it, in line with my career goals

Working in a Sales role is definitely challenging, yet exciting and rewarding at the same time. Here, I’ve been able to influence the whole sales cycle, right from developing leads from first point of contact, managing my own sales pipeline, building rapport with Free Trialists, converting opportunities into Sales, and even supporting new customers with their solution (funnily enough, our CRM is really good at managing all this!). Working in a Sales role also means you’re the face of the business, so it’s vital that you constantly uphold a certain level of service to do it justice!

One of the highlights of my year so far was going to London to represent ProspectSoft at The Business Show in November. ProspectSoft  exhibited at the event, with the aim of raising brand awareness and generating qualified leads. There were thousands of visitors across the two days, so this was a fantastic opportunity for me, particularly being in a Sales role! At the show, I generated sales leads with prospects, some of which I’m now speaking to about Prospect 365 (our cloud-based CRM solution)Being at the show, front and centre of our stand, also really helped me improve my confidence and interpersonal skills, as I was required to think on my feet, and had to pitch our solution in seconds.

Time is flying by, but I can’t wait to see what the next 9 months has got in store!
