Our time here at ProspectSoft has just tipped past the half way point, with Valentine’s at the turn.
The time has flown by so quickly that it’s hard to believe that we’ve really been here for nearly 7 months. The days are sliding beneath our feet faster than we can count as we rush towards the end of our placement but we try not to think about it. We can only enjoy it while it lasts – and make the most of the time we have left. Hopefully some of us will be lucky enough to be invited ‘back into the fold’ as it were, once we’ve finished the final year of our degree.
This month, I’ve been switching between our Operations and Support departments to get a better feel for how things work. As we mentioned in one of our previous blogs, our Support department moved upstairs to become part of a shiny new Client Services team lead by a familiar face.
It’s been interesting seeing the shift in focus between Operations and Support and I think the experience I’ve gained in talking to customers will be invaluable in the future as I’ve lost most of the hesitation I had about talking to them! While my experience in Support has been useful for my work in Operations, the converse is also true.
Working in Operations has given me a good insight into how our development processes work and also a look at the esoteric inner workings of our XML API. It makes it a lot easier to solve problems when you’re on the outside looking in!
“What is this life, if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs, and stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see when woods we pass, where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, streams full of stars, like skies at night. A poor life this, if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare.” W. H. Davies
