London, gin tasting & networking! Read more for an insight into our fantastic day at RateMyPlacement's Sponsors Event, celebrating undergraduate employability!
It was time to celebrate undergraduate employability at RateMyPlacement’s Sponsors Event in Soho, London!
We had a fantastic day attending the event; networking with fellow sponsors of RateMyPlacement and praising the achievements of everyone who continuously contributes to the undergraduate employment industry.
In the early hours…pizza & wardrobe malfunctions!
After meeting in Soho, we started off the afternoon by heading to Pizza Express - indulging in dough balls, excessive amounts of pizza and a few beverages to kick start the day! It was the perfect little venue for lunch; so festive and cozy, away from the bustling, cold city streets outside.
Whilst the day started smoothly, it soon took a little bit of a turn when Jess, our Marketing Team Leader, had a slight wardrobe malfunction…meaning we had to pop to Zara to find a new dress! The ProspectSoft team browsed Zara, and after a few changes, Jess found the perfect one.
The unexpected shopping trip certainly added some humour to our day, despite making us fashionably late for the beginning of the event!
Just in time to celebrate!
We soon arrived at the Six Storeys in Soho, where the event was taking place. Embracing the lavish interior, we were super ready to celebrate in style.
Beginning with a fantastic welcome presentation from Oliver Sidwell, RateMyPlacement’s co-founder, we gained huge insight about the undergraduate employability achievements and stats from the past year. Being students ourselves, it truly was amazing to see how much support there is out there for undergraduate students, and it really made us feel so inspired and grateful to be part of such an important movement.
Gin tasting
So, then came the gin tasting…we had never seen so many ‘weird & wonderful’ gin flavours! Ranging from pink gin, blue cheese and a ‘salad’ flavour, there were plenty to take our fancy! I never thought that I would ever try a salad flavoured gin – it was certainly an experience! This was also a great time to network, and for us two new placement students, it was a great opportunity to get to know everyone.
Time for the Christmas Quiz…plus more food!
After quenching our thirst with all the gin, we headed to the top storey (aka ‘the loft’), for the Christmas themed quiz and canapes. Everyone got seriously competitive and after the creation of some very interesting team names, along came the firing of questions!
Trying to figure out 8 top hits from Justin Timberlake, guessing reindeer names and the heights of iconic buildings proved to be a lot more difficult than we thought! It was a super entertaining quiz and we had a great time trying all the lovely foody treats throughout. The mini fish and chips were definitely a winner!
The excitement continued into the evening…
As the drinks flowed into the night, the buzzing atmosphere made every moment memorable. Embracing being in the heart of the city, there was a great feel to the place and we had a brilliant time socialising and ultimately continuing the celebration of undergraduate employability!
Thank you RateMyPlacement!
To top off the brilliant day, we are delighted to be shortlisted for the NUE Awards “Best Small to Medium-sized Undergraduate Employer” once again! We can’t wait for the Awards in March, and look forward to reuniting and again, celebrating the amazing efforts of everyone who supports undergraduate employability.
Fingers crossed for a 7th win at the awards this year!
