Hear from Harry, our current Onboarding placement, as he reflects on his placement at ProspectSoft.
As my placement comes to an end at ProspectSoft I am here to write a quick reflection on my role and time here. I have been working with the Onboarding team, this essentially means I have trained up new customers on how to use the system. As my placement has progressed, I have started to carry out calls with customers and independently completed the entire process from helping set up users CRM software to training them on the system. It is a journey I have really enjoyed!
My Day-to-Day Schedule
My days all start the same with a morning meeting with the Onboarding team to cover what we have going on in our upcoming days and I also have the chance to ask any quick questions. After this my day really gets going, I tend to have 3 calls with customers on average. These are either configuration sessions, where I go through the set-up of customer’s systems or training calls where I teach our customers how to use the CRM and ensure they can get the most of our system.
In addition to this, I will have internal calls dotted about the day. Aside from calls I also have other tasks, this may include creating quote templates for customers, or carrying out data imports to people’s systems. Lastly, I need to stay on top of all my customers, this means staying up to date with admin work. I have to remember to keep an eye on my emails and make sure that any questions from customers on the live chat have been answered.
Skills I have Developed
Throughout my placement the main skill I believe I have developed and worked on is my communication skill. My role involves a lot of interacting with customers as I have mentioned, this means it is very important I am clear in our conversations. This is something I have noticed that has developed massively throughout my 13 months at ProspectSoft.
I would also say my problem-solving skills have progressed. Throughout customer’s flight paths, they will have questions about the system and little things they may want to add. I have to think on my feet to find solutions to any issues the customers may be facing to ensure they receive the best service possible.
How has the role impacted me?
I think the placement here at ProspectSoft has helped me immensely. For one I have real world work experience for when it comes to the end of degree. This experience has made me more employable when it comes to my future. I also think I have learnt a lot about myself, the role has allowed me to step out my comfort zone and really develop my soft and hard skills.
Advice for new Placements!
My first piece of advice, and arguably the most important is ask questions! At the start of my placement one of my biggest regrets was not asking more questions. No one will ever judge you for asking questions and it really helps you develop your understanding of the system. This is something I recommend doing throughout your placement.
Don’t suffer in silence! Everyone at ProspectSoft is more than willing to help out with any issues or queries you may have. I would also recommend organising your days. I got myself a diary, where I organise what I need to cover in a day the night before. This is something that has helped me when it comes to staying on top of my workload as well.
Best Moments at ProspectSoft
Some of my favourite memories with the ProspectSoft team is the work socials we have had. Everyone here is so welcoming and nice. The meals we have been for are one thing I will definitely miss next year! I have also loved my role, being in such a customer facing role is something that has been great. My favourite part is getting to meet new people and learn about their business’ and how they operate, it has been incredibly interesting.
What I will miss the Most
I will miss a lot here at ProspectSoft. From the routine I have, to the customers I get to interact with. However, the thing I will definitely miss the most is the placements. I have found the team to be so welcoming and will miss everyone I have met. I hope to stay in contact with as many people as I possibly can. Fortunately I am living with one of the other placements next year, so at least I still have that little connection!
