Bowling, Booze and (Dough) Balls...an RMP Sponsors Event to Remember!

By Abi Shevlin on Mon 09 December 2019 in Placement Blog

A day full of celebrations! Find out what we got up to at the RateMyPlacement Sponsors Event for undergraduate employability!

We had an incredible day attending the annual RateMyPlacement Sponsors Event in London, celebrating the continuous and ever-increasing success of undergraduate employability. It was a day full of networking, eating & drinking - and just having a bit of fun!

Before the celebrations commenced, we made a quick pit stop at Pizza Express to fuel us for the day ahead. There were plenty of dough balls to go around, followed by some amazing (and very large) pizzas that defeated us all, so unfortunately, we had to sacrifice desserts! This was shortly followed by a quick walk around London, taking in a few of the sights on our way to the event and trying to walk off the masses of food we’d just consumed!

The Sponsors event took place at All Star Lanes, a retro-American boutique bowling experience, which we finally arrived at, after not so successfully following Google Maps for quite some time! We were then taken up to the Penthouse, where we were warmly welcomed by the RMP team and the other sponsors attending the event. Oliver Sidwell, RateMyPlacement’s co-founder, delivered an insightful presentation into the past year of undergraduate employability, providing an array of stats and figures, as well as the upcoming trends to watch out for in recruitment.

The fun continued into bowling and a Christmassy themed quiz, where we were split into 2 teams to separate the tasks. The great thing about the penthouse was that we had our own private bowling alleys, and it’s safe to say...it got competitive! Our bowling skills weren’t the best and as for the Christmas quiz, it definitely racked our brains; however, both were great fun and added to our networking opportunities to get to know the rest of the sponsors. Canapés and drinks swiftly followed and despite still being quite full from lunch, they definitely went down a treat!

We then continued our celebrations well into the night at the Big Chill, socialising with the RMP team and other sponsors.

And...we’re pleased to announce that - amidst all the employability celebrations - ProspectSoft have been shortlisted for “Best Small to Medium-sized Undergraduate Employer” at the NUE Awards once again! We’re absolutely ecstatic about being a finalist, and hope that our application has wowed the judges enough to take home another win!

Being involved in the NUE Awards is an amazing opportunity for us to showcase the amazing effort the entire PS team put into our placement scheme year on year, and we’ve got everything crossed for the awards in February 2020...wish us luck!
