Undoubtedly one of the highlights of my placement year so far has been exhibiting at The Business Show 2017 to showcase the Prospect 365 platform to a whole range of start-up businesses and SMEs across varying industries.
The hustle and bustle of the DLR greeted us on the morning of Day 1 as 25,000 businesses flocked to the ExCeL Centre to hear from industry experts and suppliers that could help them improve their business success. Arriving at the exhibition bright and early, we finished setting up the stand and were ready to start the day.
Exhibiting at the show was fast paced, especially as we tried to speak to as many people as possible (plus, we were easy to find!) This was partly thanks to the balloons that were tied to our stand and towered above us, making us easy to spot from all corners of the exhibition hall. In true Apprentice fashion, I spent some time handing out our amazingly popular "ProspectSoft" kites as a freebie, and as an incentive to direct people towards our stand as they came through the entrance in the morning! But it was the energy of the ProspectSoft team that encouraged lots of businesses to talk to us and have meaningful conversations about how our solutions could benefit their business.
As I was there for the two days, I could spend time both at the stand and on the floor. The exhibition was huge, so there were plenty of people to see and therefore lots of people to speak to! Throughout the day, I felt more confident in chatting to people and could more quickly scope out how Prospect 365 would be a good fit for their business. This involved me collecting plenty of information about them so that we could reach out to prospective clients when we returned to the office.
All in all, The Business Show 2017 was a fantastic experience which has given me a very positive outlook as to how exhibitions can help both the attendees and the exhibitors. I’m now following up with the businesses I spoke with – a very rewarding job, as I’ve been given the full responsibility from beginning to end. I’m now looking forward to helping these prospective clients through the rest of their Prospect 365 journey!
